Romana’s style is modern, including cabinets and sideboards with a low contemporary outline; but with subtle detailing and soft shapes the range remains understated. Detailing includes shaped legs, whose easy organic lines belie the complexity of manufacture. The shaped edge to the top panels echoes the softness of ercol’s vintage mid-century designs, but cut into the carcass it gives a streamlined feel to the silhouette. A high level of craftsmanship is used in creating the organic shapes in the range. Complex construction is further evidenced in flush, sculpted curves across joints and in the close fit of the curved tops into the recessed tops of the cabinet carcasses.
The Romana IR TV unit features a cupboard section for storing your Digi boxes and two drawers for additional storage. The “IR eye” enables you to use your remote control with your Digi boxes and satellite boxes stored out of sight away from dust, behind the closed wooden doors. The front edge of the TV cabinet frame bear the signature soft curve, and the legs have the fluid organic curves and chamfers that, characterise Romana. Fluid wave-shaped cut-out recesses provide the door and drawer handles, another design signature of the range. The cupboard section has an adjustable glass shelf, the two drawers and the door hinges have soft-close mechanisms to give a gentle shut. A cut-out in the back panel provides easy access for your cables. The receiver in the cabinet works with remote controls operating in the 20 – 70 kHz range. This oak furniture is finished in a clear matt lacquer to show the beauty of the natural timber.
